(Source : ANI) The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has once again emerged as the top-ranked institution in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. This marks the sixth consecutive year that IIT Madras has secured the top spot, reaffirming its position as a leader in higher education in India.

The Ministry of Education announced the NIRF 2024 rankings on Monday, highlighting the consistent excellence of IIT Madras, which has also been recognized as the best engineering college for the past nine years. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, was ranked as the best university, showcasing its leadership in research and academic excellence.

In the management category, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta continue to dominate, securing positions among the top five institutions.

This year, the NIRF rankings entered their ninth edition, evaluating institutions across five broad parameters: teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking methodology established by the Ministry of Education in 2015 to assess and rank higher education institutions in India. A Core Committee set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) developed the ranking parameters, which have since become a benchmark for evaluating the performance of educational institutions across the country.
