Shikhar Dhawan, fondly known as “Gabbar,” officially announced his retirement from international cricket. His career has left a lasting impact, defined by aggressive batting and consistency at the top order.

Dhawan became a cornerstone for India’s ODI team, especially in ICC tournaments, where his flair and ability to dominate bowlers made him a match-winner. Known for his trademark mustache twirls and infectious energy, Dhawan’s 2013 Champions Trophy performance and World Cup exploits earned him a legendary status.

His international debut in 2010 in ODIs and the record-breaking 187-run Test debut in 2013 marked the beginning of an illustrious journey. Despite injury setbacks, Dhawan remained a key player in ICC events, becoming the fastest Indian to score 1,000 runs in ODIs.

Dhawan’s legacy will be remembered not only for his runs but for his cheerful persona, unmatched on-field spirit, and his role in some of India’s greatest victories.

Though stepping away from international cricket, Dhawan’s contribution will be cherished, and he remains active in domestic leagues like the IPL, mentoring younger players.
